Powerlifting is about more than lifting weights. It’s about increasing focus, mounting determination and crushing mental barriers.
Having a certified USPA training center on your side is what makes the difference in the world of competitive powerlifting. At Everyday Athletes, we take a different approach to powerlifting. By providing a well- rounded training opportunity with a certified coaching staff, we give you the competitive advantage.
Our Approach Strength Training
Whether you are a beginner exploring the world of weightlifting, or if you are looking to stack on more plates and crush the competition, we offer two types of training sessions. Each session is held in our fully stocked powerlifting gym.
1. Personal Training: This gives you one-on-one time and individualized instruction from a certified personal trainer. This option is perfect for beginners, those who have an upcoming powerlifting competition, or for those who are simply looking to increase their abilities in a more personal setting.
2. Power Crew: Our Power Crew is a group class dedicated to improving your lifting skills with the advantage of group support. Classes are offered twice a day in our Louisville, KY gym and designed for anyone from beginners to champions. Each session is an open group format with one of our USPA certified coaches leading the program and cueing lifters. Our power crew becomes like a family to support, motivate, and help one another. The coaching staff gives individualized attention to each lifter while providing an environment that is positive and encouraging.
What To Expect From Our Gym
Our certified trainers begin with a comprehensive orientation and evaluation of your current powerlifting abilities and fitness level. If you are new to lifting, we are happy to provide an introduction to the sport as well as valuable safety training to avoid injuries. Each individual evaluation also includes a full movement assessment to find any muscle imbalances and a Bod Pod test for measuring body composition. We take care of each member on an individual level to provide instruction, motivation, and avoid injuries.
Once we have evaluated your fitness level, goals, and abilities, we start with basic training in our certified USPA training center. Our coaching staff can help you learn or improve your strength training with state-of-the-art equipment.
Some of the most popular areas of training include:
– Monolift
– Competition bench
– Reverse Hyper
– Glute Ham
– Inverse Curl
– Belt Squat
Literally, every specialty bar on the market if you can think of it, we have it:
– Deadlift platform
– Bands / Chains
– Boards
– Racks
This is only part of what we offer at Everyday Athletes. Stop by and see our full line of state-of-the-art equipment. Our gym is open for tours where you can see the entire facility, talk to the staff and see what we have to offer as one of the only USPA certified training centers in the state of Kentucky.
Difference Between Bodybuilding And Powerlifting
Anyone can go to the gym and lift weights, some may take on bodybuilding, but only the elite take on powerlifting. The sport of bodybuilding is all about who looks like they can lift the most weights whereas powerlifting is who CAN lift the most weights in the three main lifts (squat, deadlift, and bench press).
Bodybuilders tend to go for cycling between periods of cutting and bulking, to build sculpted muscles for a lean look. But powerlifting is about abilities, strength, and competition. Our trainers and power crew provide instruction and a support system to help you reach your goals.
Powerlifting Is Not Just A Boys Club
Powerlifting is one of the fastest growing areas of fitness for women and girls. Lifting helps build lean mass, improve overall strength, and it makes it easier to achieve and maintain a lean physique for women.
As you increase your muscle mass, you also increase your metabolism, which makes other fitness activities more effective. Girls who powerlift often report increased confidence, self-esteem, and a new found power that comes from lifting.
Girls Gone Strong, a popular website dedicated to helping women discover their potential through strength training, encourages women to empower themselves by feeling physically strong. We seek to inspire women of all ages and abilities to attend our powerlifting class and unleash the power within as your body and mind become stronger than you thought possible.
“The world of powerlifting was all new to me. But, Everyday Athletes Power Crew helped me learn and enjoy the new love in my life. I love lifting and competing.”
